Student Loan Service Center

The Student Loan Service Center (SLSC), NDUS, provides loan servicing for institutional loans issued by colleges and universities in the North Dakota University System.  This includes monitoring, reporting and collecting on loans in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations. 

The SLSC is assisted in our functions by Heartland Educational Computer Systems, Inc. (Commonly referred to as ECSI), which provides billing services, payment processing, and responses to minor service inquires.  Heartland ECSI also provides the web portal used for online account information.

Online Account Access and Payment Information

You can view your account information, submit payments or set up recurring payments at

New user?  Review your Truth in Lending form for login information  or Obtain Your Login Credentials.  School Code = A5. 

Payments are due by the first of each month.  Late fees will be applied the 10th of the month.

Borrower's Rights

  • To prepay all or part of your loan(s) at any time without penalty.
  • To a grace period after graduation or discontinuing enrollment as outlined in the loan promissory note. 

    • During the grace period payment is not required.
    • For Perkins and Nursing loans interest does not accrue.
    • Interest may accrue during the grace period on some other types of institutional loans, please refer to your promissory note.  

  • Repayment of the loan does not begin until the grace period has expired.

Borrower's Responsibilities

  • Remit payment by the due date.
  • Notify ECSI or the Student Loan Service Center if payment cannot be made by the due date.  A late (penalty) fee is applied if payments are not received by the 10th of the month.
  • Notify ECSI or the Student Loan Service Center if there is any change of personal information such as, name, address, phone or email.
  • File appropriate forms, such as for deferment or cancellation, in a timely manner.
  • Understand that failure to repay your student loan has serious consequences such as:
    • Referral to collection agency.
    • Report the past due status of your payment to the National Credit Bureau report agencies.
    • Loss of eligibility for deferment or cancellation benefits.
    • Loss of eligibility for further Federal Financial Aid.
    • Holds placed on your academic transcript.  




Academic Year Hours: 8:00am - 4:30pm CST, Monday through Friday

Summer Hours: 7:30am - 3:30pm CDT, Monday through Friday
