Health Care Providers - The National Health Service Corps offers loan repayment assistance to support qualified health care providers who choose to bring their skills where they are most needed. 

  • This program is open to licensed primary care medical, dental, and mental and behavioral health providers who are employed or have accepted an offer of employment at an NHSC-approved site.

Nursing Student Loan - The Nurse Corp LRP, exists to assist in the recruitment and retention of:

  • Professional registered nurses, including advanced practice RNs such as nurse practitioners, certified registered nurse anesthetists, certified nurse midwives, and clinical nurse specialists
  • Dedicated to working in health care facilities with critical shortage of nurses.  These facilities are referred to as a Critical Shortage Facility.
  • By decreasing the financial barriers associated with pursuing a nursing profession. 
  • The program offers these RNs substantial financial assistance to repay a portion of their qualifying educational loans in exchange for full-time service a health care facility with a critical shortage of nurses.

Nursing Faculty Loan  - The purpose of the Nurse Faculty Loan Program is to increase the number of qualified nursing faculty to facilitate education of the nurses needed to address the nursing workforce shortage. 

  • Participating schools of nursing make loans from the NFLP fund to assist registered nurses in completing their graduate education to become qualified nurse faculty. 
  • The program offers partial loan forgiveness for borrowers that graduate and serve as full-time nursing faculty for the prescribed period of time.
  • The loan recipients may cancel 85 percent of the loan over four years in return for working full time as a nurse faculty member at an accredited eligible school of nursing.
  • Eligible entities are accredited collegiate schools of nursing and other qualified academic departments offering eligible advanced master's and/or doctoral degree nursing education programs that will prepare students to teach.
